ABOUT THIS WEBSITE:
Most of the photos on these pages, were shot with a modest digital camera.
As the name suggests, these images are of lights at night. Currently, very few contain people or animals. All are photos shot in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Hello. My name is Doug Faires. I have been using a small 3.2 megapixel digital camera, a Pentax Optio 330CS (seen on the left) to take most of the pictures for Calgary Night Lights.com. (better camera coming soon)
I am a born Calgarian, an artsy night person and one who honestly loves this city. I'm a hobby photographer and want to show you some Calgary night lights photos. All were captured for their color. No endorsements are being made with any companies or organizations.

I build websites for artists and businesses. And sometimes build my own just for the fun of it. Calgary Night Lights is one such project.

None of my work contains objectionable material. So it's okay for the whole family.
Perhaps you'll be inspired to do your own thing.
In any case, I hope you enjoy some of this. Thank you for visiting  Calgary Night Lights.com

---   SOME WISE TIPS ABOUT TAKING PHOTOS IN PUBLIC PLACES   ---
  • Most people don't like their photograph being taken without their permission.

  • Your equipment can be purse-snatched, if not securely strapped to your body.

  • Some people get angry with people who have more than they do and show it.

  • Have at least one other person with you (ie. a driver), especially at night.
    • Stay close to your transportation.

  • Get a "Consent Form" signed by the subject before you take their picture.
    • Hopefully, verbal acceptance is sufficient with friends.

  • Or only have people in a photo when they can't be identified. (ie. silhouette, distant background, faces turned away, etc.). Or just don't include people.

  • NEVER hand your camera to a stranger, to take your picture.

  • Photos cannot be taken on private property without the owners permission.

More tips can be added as they become available. If you have one, please
e-mail it in.
